Print data from SAP (invoices, orders, delivery notes) have to be archived for legal reasons. Since these documents are created electronically, it seems logical to archive them electronically, too.

Customers owning an archiving system can therefore configure SAP to create PDF for archiving parallel to the printed output of the documents and check it out via the Archive Link interface of SAP into their archive.

Here´s the problem: unfortunately the quality of PDF generated by SAP systems is not at all eligible for long-term archiving! The files contain grave breaches of the PDF/A standard.
